Stunning black Japanese Satsumi Table lamp presented against a black matte finish, raised paint depicts a central panel of court life. The colors and textures of the fabrics jump with the raised paint in hues of pea green, oxblood red and gold. Accents in pale gray and soft tangerine. Geometric patterns finish the neck and base as the tail of a dragon swirls around the back of the body of the lamp. Lamp rests upon a wooden asian style vase.
Original socket and push switch (push switch may be Bakelite).

Brass cap, socket cradle, neck, harp and finial all show tarnish. Minor paint loss on body of lamp from handling. Ceramic in good condition, no breaks. Wood base has a piece missing that appears to have been removed for cord to easily go thru. Photos show all. Minor crazing. Ceramic piece may predate lamp.
